She reads at a 5th grade level so we thought this book series would be appropriate for her. I was very wrong. The word sucks appears on page 11 andprobably more throughout the book but we stopped reading it at that point. Although the word "sucks" may not be considered a "swear word", it is certainly not a word I ever want to hear coming out of my 9 year old's mouth and let's all face it, our children absorb and repeat what they are exposed to. I also don't like the references to needing a cell phone, blogging personal stuff online, your first kiss, and all of the boy-craziness. I think it is wrong to say that a girl's life "totally sucks" because she doesn't have a cell phone and a boyfriend. Childrens' books have a lot of influence over their thoughts and behaviors. This book went too far and I'll have to put it away until she's older which produced a lot of tears. As parents, we have... Not just doesn`s have friends for a while but has horrible luck. HILARIOUS book. DEFINITLY worth the money. The book shows that there is always a "Dork or Nerd in the school and there are always the prettiest girls that get everything they ask for. The book made me roll my eyes. I read the first two and didn't even bother reading a word out of the third, I couldn't take anymore of this writing. I have to say, now that I read other reviews, the book was totally not right for any girl to read until there late teen ages. The book looked funny at first, but its such a sad and dissappointing read.When I read "About the author" the auther seemed really silly, but she doesn't show it in her writing at all. I'd read Diary of a Wimpy kid instead or dear dumb diar, thoughs are super funny,this book is like someones funeral!
